15 April 2008
ACP Capital Limited (“ACP Capital” or the “Company”: APL.LN), the merchant bank and asset manager focused on European small and medium sized enterprises, today announces through its to be launched subsidiary, ACP Capital Infrastructure, that it has established a platform for the acquisition and development of renewable energy assets in Italy and Southern Europe, ACP Capital NextEnergy Initiative Limited (“ACPNE” or “the Vehicle”). ACPNE has received initial equity commitments of €50 million from ACP Capital and Mssrs. Michael Bonte-Friedheim and Stefano Sommadossi (together “the Principals”), with ACP Capital having majority control. The Vehicle will enter into a third-party management agreement with NextEnergy Capital SaRL (“NextEnergy”), a company founded and owned by the Principals for the sourcing and operation of renewable energy opportunities.
ACPNE represents the first investment for ACP Capital’s planned infrastructure vehicle, ACP Capital Infrastructure (“ACPI”). ACPI is expected to be launched in 2008 and will invest throughout Europe in infrastructure assets such as railcars, containers, transport and renewable energy (e.g. wind farms, photovoltaic, hydro plants).
The creation of ACPNE reaffirms the development of ACP Capital’s presence in the Italian and wider Southern European markets and reiterates the Company's stated objective of becoming a leading integrated finance provider in key sectors such as infrastructure.
Alexander Koch, Head of ACP Capital Infrastructure, commented: “The creation of ACPNE is an important step in building ACP Capital’s infrastructure business in Europe. Together with our partners at NextEnergy we plan to grow ACPNE into a meaningful and stable asset platform that will benefit from the remarkable growth potential offered by the European renewable sector.”
